The next project we are hoping to embark on is a toilet block for the Abunyanya schools
Currently the situation leaves a lot to be desired. As we write 650 students and 50 staff have no toilet or sanitation facilities at all.
There are two small dilapidated toilet blocks. We have received some funding to work on them and will be starting work soon.
After that we are going to, hopefully, start on a larger compost toilet block. It has been designed by Dream Big Ghana. We are in the process of getting funding for this from The Australian High Commission in Accra. (fingers crossed)

When we were analysing the needs assessment forms many respondants said they wanted a toilt block because they were scared of snakes. This surprised us until we realised that without a clean hygenic place to defecate thay were going into the surrounding fieds where, of course, there are snakes.
The local clinic reported that in the previous two years (up to September 2025) 62 people had been bitten by snakes 42 of whom subsequently died.
